Milk thistle (one of its more common names) got its name because of the milky-like substance found inside the plant’s leaves. It has a long history of use as a nutritional aid that spans back nearly 2000 years. Today, it is grown in other parts of the world, but was once only found in the Mediterranean region. It was used for a variety of remedies.
